The Spaces of Production brief was articulated in two parts: in the first one, the students analysed an object and its relationship to the space it is produced in, or to a comparable space, by creating a series of drawings; in the second one, they were required to design an object that produces other objects. I decided to work with Aphex Twin's 1997 Come to Daddy EP and interpret musical software Ableton Live as a space in which the music is produced. To substantiate this metaphor, I created a series of architectural drawings based on the structure of Live's interface, and then I designed a preset template that made it possible to sequence sliced samples on the fly.
The design process is documented in greater detail on my blog.
This project was completed as a part of the MA Design: Critical Practice at Goldsmiths University.
